Caisse Desjardins du Secteur public de l'Estrie: A group caisse

Caisse Desjardins du Secteur Public de l'Estrie has been dedicated to its worker groups for more than 50 years! The founders worked tirelessly to make the caisse an important player that is closely tied to its members and driven to serve them well.

True visionaries, the employees of Sherbrooke's hospitals, the teachers of the region's school board and the employees of the City of Sherbrooke understood that workers needed to cooperate to further their sector's development. They founded their own caisses based on the credit union model, which was proving highly successful in English Canada and the United States.

On September 1, 1948, the employees of the City of Sherbrooke founded Caisse de crédit des Employés municipaux de Sherbrooke. In October 1966, Caisse des Employés de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke was created by hospital workers and quickly experienced great success! Finally, in 1971, Caisse des enseignants de l'Estrie was founded by the region's teachers. In the mid-1970s, these caisses began to come together to strengthen their efforts and to keep growing and pursuing their mandates. In June 1974, a new caisse came into existence: Caisse d'économie Desjardins des Cantons.

In 2017, in order to better represent the sectors it serves, the caisse chose a new name: Caisse Desjardins du Secteur public de l'Estrie.

Because we have a thorough knowledge of our members' workplaces, working conditions and benefits, we are able to provide made-to-measure service.
