Desjardins Capital supports an innovative Saguenay business

A3 Surfaces recently received a significant injection of funds from Desjardins Capital to commercialize a one‑of‑a‑kind technology. This Chicoutimi-based business has developed an anodized aluminum that makes surfaces antimicrobial. Their product, which was patented in 2020, reduces the risk of bacterial transmission via metallic surfaces.

Thanks to this new funding, A3 Surfaces will be able to continue their certification process for North America and strengthen their commercialization structure in Europe. The market for their product is huge and includes healthcare, construction and public transit sectors.

"Desjardins Capital is proud to support this innovation from a Quebec business that's also bolstering the reputation of the Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean region in the aluminum industry," said Jean-Yves Bourgeois, Executive Vice-President, Business Services at Desjardins Group. "The $1 million of financial support we're providing will help A3 Surfaces develop their self-cleaning aluminum technology to make surfaces safer. That's more important than ever in a pandemic."

The partnership was announced April 20 at the A3 Surfaces facility. See the press release for more details.

On top of this investment by Desjardins Capital, Desjardins Group as a whole has supported this company from the beginning with business and personal services.
