I'm not saying it's the best thing but when I was in school, if I had three weeks to finish something, chances were I was on it three days before the deadline.

I have the same strategy with my credit card. I have 21 days after getting my statement to make a payment without any interest; so yes, sometimes I wait until the last day. Especially if I know I'm going to get paid soon. As long as you're not late, you're fine!
