Anne-Marie: The first time I found out about Répit Jeunesse was on a poster. It said "Street work" with names and phone numbers, and "We're here for you."
[Façade of Centre Répit.]
Narrator: Répit employees strive to work with the population with dignity and respect. Their presence can be more valuable than it seems.
[Shot of a sunflower.]
Anne-Marie: That "We're here for you" really said something to me. It spoke to me. So I picked one of the names. I didn't know who the person was. I decided to text them, and then they replied. Then we met. I slowly got closer to that street
worker.
[Anne-Marie types on a keyboard, chatting with someone.]
Caroline: What can I say to a case worker that I wouldn't say to a friend? It takes some pressure off sometimes, when things aren't going well, giving that burden to a friend.
It's like I can really let go, knowing that person is going home. The case worker is going home and isn't too affected by what I told them.
[A street worker sits in an armchair in the middle of the room. With a series of fades, we see other people in the same chair, one after the other; we focus on them, their faces, but there's movement behind them, people in the room are talking,
getting up or drawing.]
