How to submit a claim
The first step in the Loan Insurance claims process is requesting a form, which you can do one of three ways: visit our secure website - This link will open in a new window, call a Desjardins Insurance[ 1 ] note customer service representative at 1-877-338-8928, or make an appointment at your Desjardins caisse.
The form you need will be mailed to you, along with instructions, so you can complete it at your convenience, from the comfort of your home.
Desjardins Insurance may ask you to provide additional information to assess your claim.
In the event of disability
You can submit a claim once you've been totally disabled for at least:
- 30 consecutive days if your disability is the result of an accident or illness requiring hospitalization for at least 72 consecutive hours (benefits are payable as of the 31st day)
- 90 consecutive days if your disability is the result of an illness (benefits are payable retroactively to the 31st day)
Termination of disability benefits
To avoid having to pay back overpaid benefits, contact Desjardins Insurance at 1-877-338-8928 if you:
- go back to work
- go back to school or get job training
- are no longer totally disabled
In the event of a cancer diagnosis
You can submit a claim for a cancer diagnosis on or after November 1, 2012.
In the event of death
You may be asked to submit additional documents. Desjardins Insurance will send you instructions detailing exactly what you need to provide.
