Check current international economic sanctions

Desjardins Group and all financial institutions in its network of foreign correspondent banks are subject to strict regulations on international economic sanctions.

Funds transfers may be temporarily blocked as a result of these sanctions. If your transfer is blocked, you may be asked some additional questions. It will then be either completed or cancelled, depending on your responses.

With some exceptions, a funds transfer may not be completed if an individual, business, organization, group or country involved in the transaction is directly or indirectly subject to international economic sanctions.

It is your responsibility to make sure that your funds transfer doesn’t violate international economic sanctions.

FAQ

What do I need to do to receive an international money transfer?

To receive a transfer in Canadian or US dollars or in another currency, fill out the relevant section of the Incoming wire transfer (bilingual, PDF, 167 KB) form, then send it to the person who's planning to transfer funds to you.

The BIC/SWIFT code for Desjardins, for receiving money transfers from all over the world, is CCDQCAMM.

Go to the Service fees page for international transaction rates.

How is the transfer limit determined?

There is a money transfer limit set for your account, but the system factors in the limit set by the destination country or territory, as well as a security limit determined by Desjardins.

You can consult money transfer limits on AccèsD using a web browser. Under Transfers in the right-hand menu, select International money transfers then Make a transfer.

How is the exchange rate established?

The exchange rate used is the real time market rate. Exchange rates are updated live between 7:30 AM and 5 PM on business days.

When the markets are closed (before 7:30 AM and after 5 PM on business days and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), Desjardins Group's Treasury increases the spread between the current buying and selling rates. The spread is readjusted once the markets open.

A recipient says they haven't received the money. Can I check on the status of my transfer?

Yes. To view the status of your transfer, you must make a request on AccèsD using a web browser. Under Transfers in the right-hand menu, select International money transfers then Investigation

Service charges apply as they do to process any request from a bank for inapplicable, refused or returned payments.

Can I make a correction or request the return of funds once my transfer has been sent?

Yes. However, service charges apply, as they do to process any request from a bank for inapplicable, refused or returned payments. In addition, the exchange rate for a returned funds transfer may differ from the rate originally used to make the transfer.

To report an error or to request that your funds be returned, contact your caisse.

Doesn't include weekend or statutory holidays in Canada or the country of destination. Times are not guaranteed. Even though your file indicates a limit, the system also takes into account the limit imposed by the destination country or territory and security limit determined by Desjardins. Plus correspondent fees, if any. Fees based on the currency of the account credited. Except Desjardins Bank.
