School caisses

In collaboration with Quebec and Ontario elementary schools, we offer the School Caisse, a savings education program. Introduced more than 100 years ago by Desjardins Group founder Alphonse Desjardins, the School Caisse initiates children ages 5 to 11 to savings and responsible spending, in addition to encouraging their financial independence.

To instill in children a strong and ongoing sense of belonging to their school and community, school caisses provide them with the means to put into practice the values of cooperation.

Personal Finance: I'm in Charge

Personal Finance: I'm in Charge® is an educational program intended for young people ages 16 to 25 and newcomers of all ages. The program was borne out of a partnership that involves the expertise of consumer associations, a carrefour-jeunesse emploi, private and public organizations and Desjardins. Divided into 16 tailored modules of 2 hours each, it provides an impartial look at young people's first financial decisions to help them make informed, responsible choices.

The program is presented in communities and schools on an impartial basis by Desjardins-certified trainers from community organizations that have struck a partnership with local caisses.

Young Intern Director Program

We’ve created a program of internships on a caisse Board of Directors. Each year, this program sees nearly 200 young people aged 35 or younger learn about managing a company, reading financial statements, sound governance, risk management, etc.

In addition, these interns have free access to a training program on know-how and governance for the roughly 5,700 administrators and supervision officers elected within the Desjardins Group.

Financial education and solidarity-based finance

We offer several financial products and services that also have an educational element, such as Desjardins Mutual Assistance Funds, CRÉAVENIR and Desjardins Microcredit to Businesses.
